Cascadilla Gorges
Cascadilla Gorge in Ithaca, NY, 6/08.

This afternoon I'm off to the airport to fly to Minneapolis, so I can help a friend drive a new car half-cross country to Ithaca. I'll be in upstate New York until August 2nd or so, hanging around waterfalls, reading, destroying the friend's new apartment, and mostly doing nothing.

Enjoy.

Idea: Fabric Wall Decals

Rooster Fabric Wall Decal from OhDeeDoh

I stumbled upon wall slicks, a vinyl, reposition-able sort of wall sticker that's great for renters, since it doesn't damage walls. Simple designs, yet oh so pricey! I wandered my way through the interweb until finding inspiration in OhDeeDoh's Fabric Wall Silhouettes, also mentioned in How About Orange. You pretty much just soak precut fabric in liquid starch (you can make your own, but we found some at Wegman's), and then press it onto the wall. It sticks there without damaging the integrity of the wall/paint. Now I just need somewhere to practice!

Introduction

Sunday, June 1, 2008

I'm a 20-something wannabe Human Computer Interaction-ist, pursuing my PhD in the topic in Pittsburgh. This blog organizes and records (for better or worse) my interests, obsessions, and ideas as they change and improve through daily life.

I have a decently sized arts-and-crafts education, as I've been crafting, crocheting, sewing, and knitting since before high school. My interest in computers began in 8th grade and my degree in computer science only enforced that "hobby." Combine arts with technology, add a dash of behavioral psychology and you have "human computer interaction." And there I am...or will be.
