How To: Ombre Pink Felt Peony

Completed Ombre Felt Peonies

I really liked Hopes & Seams' Felt Blooms, but I wanted to try something a little more three dimensional. The large blooms came out lovely, but maybe a bit too large so I ended up constructing a flatter bloom based off the original tutorial.

Method 1: Three Dimensional Felt Peony

  1. Cut out squares, each color has equal sized squares (1", 1.25", 1.5", 1.75", 2")
Step 1: Cut out squares, each color has equal sized squares (1", 1.25", 1.5", 1.75", 2")
  2. Cut petal shapes out of squares
Step 2: Cut petal shapes out of squares
  3. Roll fringe and sew
Step 3: Roll fringe and sew
  4. Sew petals to fringe at base, one petal at a time
Step 4: Sew petals to fringe at base, one petal at a time
  5. Keep sewing petals one at a time
Step 5: Keep sewing petals one at a time
Step 5: Sewing more petals, going up in size
Step 5: A view of the bottom of the flower

  1. This is so funny because I was just thinking about making flower wands for my daughter's fairy themed birthday party and I thought that felt flowers might be cute on the tops of the wands. I'm so glad I decided to catch up on my blog reading today and came to visit! What beautiful flowers!
