Down the Rabbit Hole...Film Photography

molecular

I recently acquired a Canon AE-1 Program (a film SLR camera), because I've been admiring some shots on the Internet taken by old SLRs. I also have a Holga that I enjoy tinkering with, so diving further into film just sort of made sense.

These shots are from a two month period and include photos from around Pittsburgh, as well as a weekend holiday trip to Washington, DC. The photos come out beautifully in their own quirky way. I'm a fan.

  1. My parents have an old Nikon SLR and I tried to break it out a few weeks back. Unfortunately the battery was dead and I was over there without a car so getting a replacement wasn't an option. I really love film, the nostalgia, the skill it takes when you're not using something automatic and the control you can have. I need to go buy that battery...

  2. The colors are so interesting! How fun is it using film? I took a photography class a yearish ago. Love love love the dark room.

I want this camera by Sony that is a DSLR and has interchangeable lenses...best of both worlds, right? Now I just need about $600 (+ whatever all the lenses cost..probably a fortune).

  10. These are beautiful photos! My fiance just had a photography class and used an old SLR. He only used b&w film and they all turned out so beautiful! I would use one, but I just don't have the patience. PS-Thanks for the comment!

  12. It's amazing how camera's do different things. A photographer once said, "a good photographer, uses different cameras...not just one."
