Success: Molasses Ice Cream + Lemon Frozen Yogurt

Jeni's Molasses Ice Cream and Lemon Frozen Yogurt

I made both this lemon frozen yogurt and blackstrap molasses ice cream as per the recommendation of Jeni's splendid ice creams book. And it was a good recommendation. They do go together quite well.

Since the freezer bowl needs to be frozen in-between churnings, two flavors is a two day process. Worth it.

I used Pavel's Russian Yogurt for the froyo, and the yogurt flavoring comes through super strong. Tasty, but only for yogurt-lovers. I couldn't find blackstrap molasses at four different grocery stores, so I just used some Brer Rabbit full-flavor molasses (a second-boiling instead of a third) and it came out well. A little milder than the first time we made it, but still creamy and fantastic.
