I'm excited for the Sprout Fund's Hothouse Benefit on Saturday. I haven't had a real reason to wear a dress in a long time! Plus, the tickets/directions are pretty.

"Tell us a story from your life."
I was taken totally off guard. It had never occurred to me to mark off segments of my life for public consumption, and I went blank. The embarrassment of this moment lingered with me and as I moved onward from that day, twenty years into my life, I collected short segments and marked them specially to be retold again.

Another attempt at macarons, another partial failure. The taste is close to correct, but the batter is too runny, I think. It spreads out too much on the cookie sheet and then doesn't rise high enough.
This time, my little sister helped me fail, too.

There's some amazing work being done in my department on making interfaces more accessible to people with varying capabilities. Make Online just featured one of these.

I've been searching for some black candles in an acceptable scent for awhile. Yankee Candle has a black Midsummer's Night scent that essentially smells like men's deodorant. Turns out the holy grail of black candles was hiding in the depths of Ikea.
