Chocolate Cake with Almond Roux Icing
This birthday cake for Jim came out pretty well. Although, I'd recommend halving the amount of almond extract (or replacing with vanilla extract) in the icing. So much almond! It also is a half-day recipe, as the milk/flour mixture for the icing needs about 2 hours to cool down. The recipe is from Posie Gets Cozy and it's a bit intense, but pretty good.

It looks so good, but the sound of too much almond extract has me dry-reaching! Ahahaha! I can almost taste that right now and it is not pleasant.
