
Le Bouchère comes to town on Wednesdays, which makes for a nice class trip. The market is on Thursdays down the hill in Saint Satur. Fresh dairy, fresh bread, fresh meats, fresh veggies. Delightful.

The students at French class were fans of organizing little potlucks, which usually resulted in quite a few bottles of Sancerre wine, delicious items from the boulangerie, and then whatever else the rest of us had in our refridgerators. It worked out, more or less. Delcisiously.

As this is a 2-month (!!!) long trip, I planned to eat quite a few meals at homebase. Which meant I ate
a lot of mâche and shredded beetroot salads with camembert, chicken, and whatever other veggies or dried fruit/nuts I had on hand. With charcuterie and cheese being so cheap, it was easy to live on absolutely fantastic salads all summer long.

By the end of this experience, I was, admittedly, a little
crottins de chevignol'ed out. It is a delicious, wonderful cheese. But it was basically part of every other meal. There are certainly worse first world problems to have!
