This is a recipe I myself do not make, as the dumplings are next level intense, effort-wise. Absolutely delicious, basically a homemade chicken noodle soup, where the noodles are these delicious squares of flour and egg.
Recipe for the Dumplings
- 2 cups flour
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 whole egg
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/4 - 1/2 cup of water
- Mix flour, eggs, and salt into a bowl by hand.
- Add water gradually until it forms a ball.
- Roll dough out on floured surface until 1/4" thich.
- Cut dough into 2-3" squares.
- Let dumplings air dry for a few hours.
- Carefully flip each dumpling and then allow this previously-underside to air dry for a few hours.
Recipe for the Soup
Mom sez: "It’s not written down anywhere because it is so primitive. Basically take a bunch of dark and white meat chicken, add two or three cans of chicken broth, chop up a cup of celery and a couple of onions, maybe a few pieces of carrot for color, throw in salt and pepper and poultry seasoning (About 1 tsp each)and add enough water to make sure the chicken is covered. Put it on low /simmer for three hours. When you’re ready to cook the dumplings pull the chicken out and put it somewhere to stay warm - and then throw the dumplings in the chicken stew water and cook them for half an hour on high."
- A bunch of dark & white meat chicken (breasts & thighs)
- 30-40 fl oz of chicken broth (2-3x 14.5oz cans)
- 1 cup of chopped celery
- 2 onions, chopped
- 1 carrot, chopped (for color)
- Salt & pepper to taste (~1 tsp each)
- Water (enough to cover the chicken)
- Place all ingredients into a large soup pot.
- Bring to a boil on high on the stove.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 3 hours.
- Remove chicken and place in covered bowl to keep warm.
- Add dumplings to the soup pot and cook for 30 minutes on high.

Chicken & dumplings is Bryan's favourite and his family also has their own recipe for it. This recipe looks delicious, I love seeing the variations on this
