Violet soap that isn't violet (because I didn't color it with anything besides sage powder and titanium dioxide). Despite infusing the distilled water with violet flowers, that coloring is not really intesive enough to stick in the final product. Same for scents, too! Despite infusing the olive oil with violet leaves, I mixed up some flowery essential oils to be the main scent for this soap.

I used thenerdyfarmwife's violet soap recipe but used some sage powder instead of chlorella, because it's what I had on hand.

Rescued that failed homemade, homegrown hyssop soap by shredding it and layering it into a harder soap (thenerdyfarmwife's soap base recipe) with some more hyssop essential oil added in. It's still a little soft and crumbly, but much improved!

Handmade soap-making is quite labor intensive. I infuse the distilled water with hyssop from the garden. The olive oils are infused with more hyssop using a double boiler...and then there's the actual soap making! This one didn't quite turn out. It was just very soft. I think I'll end up shredding it and putting it inside a harder soap. Soon-to-be hyssop confetti soap!

Honey Dandelion Homemade Soap

Followed this recipe from TheNerdyFarmWife for honey dandelion soap, minus the addition of natural colorants, and got this beautiful, crunchy bar! Honey from our yard, dandelions from our yard. Super, super local!

There's not a lot of photos of the actual soapmaking process, as it involves using lye...which can burn things.

And mixing the lye-water with the oils/fats is a rather time sensitive thing. Not any time to pause and document. But I do have photos of infusing flowers into water and oil!

And, of finished bars of soap!

Give me enough time, and I'll pick up 800 new hobbies!

I started with the Natural Soapmaking Kit from Brambleberry in Lavender, because if you're gonna play with caustic chemicals (i.e., lye), you might as well get all the right equipment! The kit is a really nice introduction to all this. Highly recommend!

Also, I purchased a custom soap stamp, 'cos why not?!
