On our third day in Marbella J and I grabbed a rental car and drove up to the cliffside village of Ronda while the rest of the family went to Gibraltar. We arrived at the town and realized that we had no idea where we were going and so had TripAdvisor navigate us to the number one attraction in Ronda, El Tajo. A lovely ~1700s bridge connecting two cliffsides with quaint little white houses lining the edges. Beyond the waterfall and ravine below were golden and green square patches of farms, pretty much as far as the eye could see. Two acoustic guitars played in the background. It was so lovely, it could make you mad.
After wandering away from El Tajo, we hiked down the mountain a bit to get a different view, and then got decidedly (and purposefully) lost in the winding cobblestone streets. This was also how we stumbled upon a few more of Ronda's top attractions: Iglesia de Santa Maria la Mayor, and more bridges! We topped the evening off with some delicious tapas in the town's main square. A really lovely day!
