The Best Felt Pads for Eames Shell Chairs

They may take a good deal of force to wedge on there, but these 1" formed felt sliders from SuperGliders are the best match for Eames shell chairs. The standard stick-on kind leave some kind of residue on our worn down dining room floors.

I tried the 1.25" formed felt glides as well. They're much easier to get on the chair foot, but don't look as good.


I tried the stick-on felt glides that aren't form-fitted, and they either fall off...or they stay on and somehow leave circle-shapes rubbed into our hardwood floors. Totally uncool.


Vintage chairs are quite the hassle! I've also blogged about when I first acquired these chairs, replacing the Eames shell chair feet, and replacing the chair base screws.


Yes, the floors need to be refinished. That's life in this old mountain house.

The rubber chair feet covers work well, but then the chair can't glide. Such a boring topic, so many constraints.
