I can while away quite a good deal of social distancing times with a floral cocktail in the garden, once the sun starts to go down and the temperatures get tolerable. The drink of choice this season has been the
Aviation Cocktail. I've adapted the recipe over time to adjust to my changing tastebuds, and have mostly settled on 2 parts gin to 1 part (each): Creme de Violette, Maraschino Liquer, and fresh lemon juice with a big 'ole ice cub thrown in. It took a bit to find a liquor store fancy enough to carry Creme de Violette, but we did and now we can have fancy cocktails any time we like!
Drinking an Aviation cocktail in the garden brings me right back to pre-'Rona times when you could have a fancy seasonal alcoholic beverage at the local fancy restaurant. Sadly, now Creme de Violette will always mean 'social distancing in the garden' to me, but at least the garden's nice! It's also a nice time to pull bugs off the plants and plunk them in a cup of soapy water. Productivity!
